Using the Page and Post Editor
A reference to Caseta's content editor: blocks, SEO, featured images, reference links, AI drafts and translations.
Overview
The editor is shared by pages, posts and listings (the listing editor adds property tabs). It combines a block-based body with SEO metadata, a featured image, optional reference links and translation controls. Saves are validated; a refused field is named in the error message.
Who Is This For?
Agents, admins and owners who create or edit website content.
Before You Begin
- A page or post (a new one starts untitled).
- Any images you want to use; upload them in the editor or the media library.
- An AI provider if you want to generate or rewrite text.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Write the title and summary
| Field | Purpose | Validation | Required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Title | The page/post name and H1 | 1–200 characters | Yes |
| Web address | The public slug | Lower-case letters, numbers and single hyphens | Required (generated) |
| Excerpt | Summary for cards, previews and SEO fallback | Up to 500 characters | No |
Step 2: Write the body
Use the block editor to add headings, paragraphs, lists, quotes, images and other blocks. Select text to apply formatting. Insert links with a full address or a site-relative path. Images can come from an upload or the stock picker.
Step 3: Add a featured image
Use the Featured image panel to choose or upload an image. A stock photo keeps its credit; an uploaded image clears an old credit. The featured image is used on cards and for social sharing where no separate share image is set.
Step 4: Complete the SEO panel
| Field | Purpose | Validation |
|---|---|---|
| Title for search results | The title in search results and social cards | Up to 70 characters |
| Description | The meta description | Up to 160 characters |
| Canonical | The preferred address for this content | Full http(s) address |
| No index | Ask search engines not to index the page | On/off |
| Share image | An image for social sharing | Storage key or HTTPS address |
Empty SEO fields fall back to the title, excerpt and featured image.
Step 5: Add reference links (optional)
Under Reference links, add up to 10 HTTPS sources with labels. They appear under the article where the public template supports them and help readers verify claims.
Step 6: Translate (optional)
Use the language tabs to open an existing translation or create one. Caseta can carry the text across as a starting point; review it before publishing. A translation has its own title, web address, summary and body.
Step 7: Save and publish
Use Save to keep a draft, then the Publishing panel to publish or schedule. See Creating Pages and Blog Posts.
Understanding the Panels
| Panel | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Header | Title, web address, excerpt, language tabs, preview link |
| Body editor | Blocks and formatting |
| SEO | Search and social metadata |
| Featured image | Card/social image and credit |
| Reference links | Sources and further reading |
| Publishing | Status, schedule, unpublish, archive |
| AI content | Generate or rewrite drafts (when a provider is configured) |
Buttons and Actions
- Save — stores the current edits.
- Preview / public link — opens the rendered page.
- Generate / Rewrite — requests an AI draft (requires a provider).
- Add translation — creates a language version.
- Publish / Schedule / Unpublish / Archive — changes status.
- Delete — permanent removal for permitted roles.
What Happens Next?
Saving updates the record but not its public visibility. Publishing makes it live where the site is live. Old addresses keep working after a slug change only if you add a redirect.
Common Problems
- "The text couldn't be read." The editor document was malformed. Reload the page and
try the save again; avoid pasting unsupported rich content.
- A link is rejected. Use a full
https://address or a valid site path. - An image upload fails. The file may be unsupported or too large. The browser
converts and fits images; try a JPEG or PNG.
- AI actions are disabled. Add and test a provider in Settings → AI.
- The translation has the wrong text. Translations are independent once created;
edit the translated fields, not the base language.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I undo a change? Use the editor's own undo while editing. After saving, restore a previous value manually; content revisions may be retained depending on the feature.
Does the excerpt have to be unique? No, but a specific excerpt improves cards and search snippets.
Can I use the same image on several pages? Yes; the media library is shared.
